Make Your Own - Laundry Cubes

Each month, we'll share a great recipe or pattern for something awesome. This month, we're making our own Laundry Cubes. Safety first - soda ash can irritate sensitive skin. Wear gloves or avoid direct contact.

Laundry Cubes

Ingredients:
1 bar pure Castile soap
2.5 cups washing soda (aka Soda Ash or Laundry Soda, you can find it in the cleaning aisle of most supermarkets)
1 cup distilled white vinegar
2 ice cube trays or similar moulds
Grater

Optional: 10-15 drops of your favourite essential oils but only if you use unscented Castile soap.

Method:
Grate the bar of soap using the finer side of your grater.
In a large bowl, add the soap, washing soda, THEN vinegar and essential oils (the order is important!).
Stir immediately to combine until small chunks start to form.
Spoon the mixture into the ice cube trays and press down with the back of the spoon.
Set aside overnight to dry and then carefully pop out.
Store in a cool, dry place such as a mason jar.
Add one cube to each load of laundry.

Suitable for use in front or top loading washing machines.
